Ingredients

Gather 6-7 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or a mix of tart and sweet varieties), sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, flour, and butter. For the crust: flour, salt, butter, and ice water.

Prepare the Crust

Mix flour and salt, cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add ice water gradually until dough forms. Divide into two disks, chill.

Prepare the Apples

Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour until coated evenly.

Roll Out the Dough

Roll one dough disk into a circle, line pie plate, trim excess. Chill.

Arrange apple slices in pie crust, mounding in the center. Dot with butter.

Roll out second dough disk, cut vents for steam, place over filling. Seal and crimp edges.

 Brush crust with egg wash, sprinkle with sugar. Place on baking sheet to catch drips.
